Using a combination of deep, intuitive empathy and powerful listening skills, Katie can help individuals, couples, and families hear and understand themselves more clearly. She engages in various therapeutic disciplines that can change the brain’s chemistry to alter the way the client feels physiologically. Her process can bring new skills to a client’s way of relating to self and others and usher in new, healthier outcomes.
Often, dysfunctional behavior has its roots in healthy desires like love, connection, or success. Giving the client the awareness and the release of these old patterns to free them from obsessive, destructive actions is what Katie would like for all her clients. Katie will apply a holistic healing process to target reoccurring patterns that will empower her clients to efficiently and effectively gain emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational dominion over their choices.
Before joining Newport Beach Trauma Therapy, Katie provided therapy and crisis support to individuals overcoming post-traumatic stress, behavioral and substance addictions, compulsive behaviors, relational conflict, anxiety, panic, and depression. Katie strives to inform her work with evidence-based and cutting-edge modalities that equip clients to cope and thrive through overwhelming emotions and circumstances. She has advanced training in a diverse range of specialty areas, including Brainspotting for individuals and Brainspotting with Mindful Coregulation for couples and families, EMDR with further training in EMDR with Behavior and Substance Addictions, Image Transformation Therapy, Gottman Level 1, and DBT Foundational and Skills.
Katie graduated with honors from Pepperdine University with her master’s degree in clinical psychology. She is registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (AMFT142643, APCC15050). Her next dream is to guide Atlas, her Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, in achieving therapy dog certification and incorporate him into sessions.
